Borrow against your art

Yes. If you own artwork with an established market and clear provenance, MarketLoan is being built so you can borrow against it instead of selling. The piece is professionally valued, held in insured custody, and returned to you when you repay. You keep the work and any future appreciation.

How it's valued

Art is valued by independent, insured professionals against the artist, the work, condition, authenticity, and provenance — the documented history of who has owned it. Pieces by recognized artists with an active resale market and clear provenance are the strongest fit, because that's what makes an honest, independent valuation possible.

How it's held in custody

Your artwork is packed and shipped insured, then held by a professional custody partner in insured, climate-appropriate storage for the life of the loan. It's tracked and protected the entire time and returned to you when the loan is repaid.

How the loan is secured

Every loan is secured by the asset you pledge and by a UCC-1 lien — a public notice that records the lender's claim on that specific item — filed when your loan agreement is accepted.

Loans on MarketLoan are funded by verified accredited investors; you don't deal with them directly.

If a loan isn't repaid, the asset is sold to cover it — a consequence you'll see clearly disclosed before you accept any offer.

Art loan FAQ

Can I borrow against a painting without selling it?
