Borrow against a diamond

Yes. You can borrow against a diamond or a diamond ring instead of selling it. MarketLoan is being built so your stone is valued by independent, insured professionals, held in insured custody, and returned to you when you repay. You keep the piece and its sentimental value — you're only borrowing against it.

How it's valued

A diamond is valued by independent, insured professionals against the qualities that drive its worth — cut, color, clarity, and carat. A lab report, such as a GIA grading certificate, helps confirm those qualities and supports the strongest valuation. That independent number, not a buyer's offer, sets your loan.

How it's held in custody

Your diamond or ring is shipped insured and held by a professional custody partner in insured storage for the life of the loan. It's tracked and protected the whole time, and returned to you when the loan is repaid.

How the loan is secured

Every loan is secured by the asset you pledge and by a UCC-1 lien — a public notice that records the lender's claim on that specific item — filed when your loan agreement is accepted.

Loans on MarketLoan are funded by verified accredited investors; you don't deal with them directly.

If a loan isn't repaid, the asset is sold to cover it — a consequence you'll see clearly disclosed before you accept any offer.

Diamonds loan FAQ

Can I get a loan against a diamond ring without selling it?
Yes. Many people would rather not sell a ring that means something to them. MarketLoan is being built so you can borrow against it, keep ownership, and get the exact ring back when you repay.

MarketLoan is in development. This describes a planned product, not an offer or solicitation of any security or loan, and not legal, financial, tax, or investment advice.

Does a GIA certificate help?
Yes. A GIA (or similar) grading report confirms the cut, color, clarity, and carat of the stone, which helps support a stronger, faster valuation. A valuation can still be requested without one.

How is my diamond protected while you hold it?
Your diamond is insured in transit and held in insured storage with a professional custody partner for the entire loan. If the loan isn't repaid, the stone is sold to cover it — disclosed clearly before you accept any offer.
